Building Foundations
Mulch decomposes and settles unevenly. For slab or pier foundations, you need solid mineral soil — not organic mulch.
Our forestry mulcher grinds trees, brush, and stumps into nutrient-rich mulch right on your property. No haul-off, no burn piles, no scarred ground. Just clear land and natural mulch.
A forestry mulcher (also called a "hydro-ax" or "brush mower") is a specialized machine equipped with a rotary drum fitted with steel teeth. As the machine drives through your property, it shreds trees and brush up to 8 inches in diameter into fine mulch — all in a single pass.
The mulch layer left behind is typically 2–4 inches deep. This organic ground cover suppresses weed regrowth, reduces erosion, and gradually decomposes to enrich the soil. It's an eco-friendly alternative to burning or hauling debris.
The process is significantly faster than traditional clearing — we can mulch 1–3 acres per day depending on vegetation density. No burn permits needed, no dump trucks, no piles of debris waiting for disposal.
No burning, no landfill trips. Vegetation returns to the soil as organic matter, enriching your ground naturally.
1–3 acres per day depending on density. Most jobs completed in a single day — traditional clearing takes 2–4x longer.
The mulch layer left behind stabilizes soil, prevents runoff, and suppresses weed regrowth for 6–12 months.
No hauling, no dump fees, no burn permits. Mulching is typically 20–40% cheaper per acre than full clearing for large lots.
Forestry mulching is ideal for many projects, but it's not a universal solution. Here are situations where traditional clearing is the better option:
Mulch decomposes and settles unevenly. For slab or pier foundations, you need solid mineral soil — not organic mulch.
Mulchers handle material up to 8" diameter. Mature Live Oak stumps (24–36") require full extraction, not surface grinding.
Wood mulch attracts termites and carpenter ants. In the Gulf Coast's humid climate, this is a genuine concern near structures.
Most builders and municipalities require "clear and grub" — full removal of all organic material — for new construction permits.
